[The feed shows Dean sitting in a hospital room. He is in a chair, head bent back over the back of the chair. He is snoring and it is the snoring that wakes him up. He actually jumps and scrubs his hands over his face. He glances at the machines hooked up Castiel, the man in the bed then pokes Castiel in the ribs.]

Cas. Hey slacker angel. Wake the hell up.

[And he pokes him again with no effect. If he had a stick he would poke him harder. As it is, he sighs then checks his device to see if he missed any calls or messages. That's when he notices it's on. he shoots it a really nice bitchface and decides to address the network]

Who ever hurt Cas? We will hunt your ass down, we will find you and we will kill you. You don't fuck with Winchesters.

So Cas is hurt. You can probably feel that with your angel mojo. Or you saw the broadcast of his fall. He's in the hospital and I've poked him, read him a story and gotten the hottest nurse I can find to give him a sponge bath. I've got nothing left so let's bury the hatchet. For Cas' sake. Only not in my head. Or my back. Or any part of my body. Okay if you really think I'm that big a dick you can bury it in my thigh. Just avoid the artery.

I need some help, Anna. Cas needs help.

[With the whisper of wings Anna appears on the far side of the room. She's armed, but not with the sword, that's been hidden in the City, somewhere safe.

She looks over at Castiel, lying there, human and hurt.]

Yeah. There's been some other supernatural people killed. I can't ask this of the police because I'm not going to handle it as a police officer but if you happen to find something about it you'd like to share....

[Dean looks over at Anna, too tired to be on alert or worry about her killing him.]

I don't know if he's going to be okay or not. It was a...long fall.

[Both figuratively and literally]

[How could she not, Dean? It hurts losing your grace, whether it's you ripping it out yourself or someone doing it for you.]

There was a fight, Castiel was beaten badly and it's hard to do that. Whoever did this isn't human.

[She holds her place, unsure how Dean'll react if she approaches the bed.]

Alright. I will. Right now, I don't know anything except Cas ~~was~~ is an angel. It would take something really scary to hurt him this bad.

[He's thought about this. Of course that doesn't mean he's not going after the really scary thing but it's an acknowledgment of how scary it will be.]

[It's a near plea. he looks up at Anna, begging with his eyes as much as anything]

What exactly happened to your friend? I get he's hurt, but specifics, please.

[She approaches the bed slowly, holding her hand out and pausing.]

His Grace is gone, you know that, right? Even when I heal him, he'll be human.

He'll need your help.

Well, there's some scary shit in this city.

I don't know that killing would be the thing to do---considering that people here only seem to revive.

Will he be all right?

Lots of wounds made with a blade. I'm not sure what kind. He was blinded, blade slashed across his eyes and dropped off a building.

[Or at least he's hoping he's still Cas. He needs to still be Cas.]

...he was ripped to pieces and impaled on a tree. Somebody wrote 'undead' right above him.

[It's sudden but calm when Castiel's eyes open. He breathes in, furrows his brow and looks from Anna to Dean and back again. The confusion passes quickly; he's been on the other end of this process before. It doesn't stop him from rubbing his eyes and looking slightly displeased.]

What happened.

[ it's not so much a question as the most threatening voice dawn has. ]

[Anna pulls back, physically removing herself from Castiel's side.]

[Dean crosses his arms over his chest to illustrate that he doesn't care if Cas is pissed.]

At least I didn't have to sell my soul this time.

[Because he would have.]
