Dean would meet the introductions with skepticism, but it's not a personal reflection on the angels. Dean just thinks Cas is the best angel.
It's a fine line to walk and really, Dean is insisting on hope because he's afraid of how Cas will take the change. Dean doesn't care if his friend is human or an angel as long as he's his friend and he's happy. He shrugs. "It'll give me something to do." There's a pause and Dean considers the situation.
"Are you going to be okay if you're human all the time? I mean...I know the human periods can be fun, but you always know they're going to end..."
Sam could tell them the unfortunate truth in finding out if Cas would like
being human is for him to experience it more. Dean can ask Sam to help with
this though. Castiel can only go with his gut and believe he will be happy.
Castiel searches for his own feelings about that. "It's fine if you do."
The situation doesn't seem all that bad no matter which way it lands. For
Lucy, he could be human.
"I need you to be okay with it if it happens. I believe I will be okay with
it when it happens. It happened before, remember, and there is much less to
struggle with here than there was a home." Food, water, income... all of
that is provided. Castiel takes joy in being able to be open to human
experiences and feel emotions at a much higher rate with a human soul than
what angel grace allots him.
Dean nods a little. Sam would be right: the only way to know if he'd be okay with being human is to experience humanity.
That gets a furrowed brow look from Dean. "Cas...as long as you're you, I don't care if your angel or human or...some sort of in-between. Yeah, sometimes it's nice having an angel on call, but it doesn't make any difference to our friendship. "You're happy. I'm happy, pretty much what it comes down to."
It is hard to know how to respond to that. Cas could agree that it is much
nicer to be the angel on call, but his friend telling him it does not
matter what he is sheds a weight on his mind that he had no clue was
present. "You-- Everybody here is safe, so I am happy whatever I happen
to be. It won't change my friendship with you either."
