[Adventures in...] The surprising shit I remember
1. What are/were your parents’ names?
John and Mary
2. Where are/were they from?
Lawrence, Kansas
3. How did they meet?
I don't know. Dad never talked about it. I think they met before he went off to 'Nam though.
4. How long were they together before you came along?
They were married for six years before they had me. I think they were together a little longer than that.
5. Were you an accident?
Nope. Pretty sure not. Sammich totally was though.
6. What did you love most about them growing up?
Mom was always happy and laughing. Dad...always made me feel safe. It didn't matter how big or how scary the monsters were, he was just better and I knew it.
7. Did/do your parents fight a lot?
I don't remember them fighting at all. Lots of laughing though.
8. Or did/do they have sex a lot?
No idea and they're both dead so they don't anymore.
9. What is the worst argument you ever overheard them having?
I don't remember them fighting at all.
10. Were/are they affectionate?
I think Mom was. I remember her being affectionate. Dad? Yeah right. He coined the no chick flick moments motto
11. What is your favorite memory of them?
The night she died, before the fire, Mom and I were putting Sammy to bed. Dad was working late at the garage. He came home and walked into Sam's room and I ran to him. He scooped me up in his arms. Me, Mom and Dad just danced around Sam's room. Dad was singing something really corny. Can't remember that song now. No matter how much I want to.
12. Scenario: You walk into the house and find your parents getting busy on the dining room table. What do you do? What do you think they would do?
Never gonna happen. Never did happen.
13. Were/are your parents hip or lame?
I wouldn't call them hip but they were never lame.
14. Did/do they ever embarrass you in front of others?
Oh yeah. Dad did.
15. Which parent wears/wore the pants in the relationship?
Mom. No doubt about it.
16. Have you ever seen one of them crying?
Yeah.
17. Did/do you ever wish they would get divorced?
Nah and even if I'd wished it, it would have never happened.
18. Were/are they the type to spontaneously dance around the kitchen together or sit quietly in the living room ignoring each other?
They'd dance.
19. Do you think your parents made you or ruined you?
Dad absolutely made me. 100%
