dudeimbatman: (So damn happy)

Merry Christmas you filthy animal

Thanksgiving had been awesome. Dean had cooked every conceivable Thanksgiving dish and they'd all eaten until they thought they were going to burst. He'd spent the next day in a food coma but had quickly gotten up to speed on getting the bunker ready for Christmas. There had been a shit ton of decorations in storage, but he'd replaced a few lights and added a singing Santa or two.

Ruby had embroidered stockings with everyone's name. She hated embroidery, but she was damn good at it. Jo had contributed a recipe for Christmas punch and one for eggnog. She insisted that they needed to have it regularly so they could tweak the recipe. That way it would be perfect for Christmas Eve. Dean was pretty sure Jo was just enjoying her first real Christmas since God knows when. Dean wasn't complaining. Lucy hadn't stopped baking since the tree had gone up, and didn't show any signs of slowing down.

Ruby was also systematically removing, altering, or replacing everything that said Christmas. The bunker was turning into a politically (or demonically) correct wonderland: Happy Holidays!

Lucy loves Christmas. It's an excuse to everyone together, to drink, and to bake. She's already done an astounding amount of baking. She's content to let Dean do most of the cooking though while she sips on Jo's alcoholic Christmas punch and egg nog.

She spends some time in the kitchen doing a little more baking (because you can never have enough baked goods in her opinion) then moves to the living room to watch Christmas movies while drinking hot chocolate with a healthy dose of rumchata in it.

Resident Evil was not a movie that Jack expected when the majority of them this holiday had been Christmas movies...

But Lucy was into it so he was trying to follow along. The most uncomfortable part is watching innocent people succumb to the virus in the movie. Jack turns to Lucy, "Seems unrealistic to me. People would help each other get through that." He's confident that's what they'd do.

It's one of Lucy's comfort movies. She does love the occasional Christmas movie with their predictable plots and happily ever afters, but she often prefers action movies and watching the hero save the day.

She sips at her bourbon while they watch the movie, Lucy keeping up semi-regular commentary. She's seen the movie so often that she can quote most of it. She smiles at Jack then leans over and kisses his cheek. She wants to tell him that he's precious and naive; she wonders to wonder at how he can retain that when he is who he is, but she's also very grateful that he has. It's what makes him Jack and not Chuck or some other idiot that doesn't deserve any power. "There'd be heroes for sure like Alice. Like Dean, Cas, and you," she points out.

Jack hasn't been exposed to many movies given his age. Lucy introducing him to more is met with enthusiasm even though the genre borderlines horror and survival.

It amazes Jack that she can repeat full dialog at key scenes and he sometimes watches her mouth the words rather than actually watch the movie. Her kiss makes his one cheek appear redder than the other. Even now it doesn't escape him that Lucy is a nice person who just happens to be good looking. Chuck is the furthest person from who he wants to be. Dean, Cas and Sam are all role models in each their own certain way. Lucy was a role model of life. "What do you think other people would do?"

He'll have to tell her he doesn't like that genre and she'll introduce him to different movies.

She's sen it a few times. It doesn't bother her that he watches her instead of the movie. She's so engrossed in it that she doesn't even really notice. She is also flattered that Jack thinks she's good-looking. Lucy doesn't have a lot of inhibitions, but Jack is her boyfriend's pseudo kid so she flirts with him minimally and always harmlessly. She'd get teary and hug Jack very hard if he told her she was a role model. Lucy considers Jack's question carefully. "I think some people will hold up and protect the people they love even if it hurts other people. I think others will make a power grab and try to control everything. Some people might use it as an excuse to hurt others and that's where Dean, Cas, and Sam come in."

He'll give it a try for Lucy rather than spoil it for her. Besides, so far it isn't frightful.

If he has those thoughts for longer than a second, he puts them out of his head. She's more like a sister the way she treats him. He smiles at her answer, letting the idea grow deeper within his own belief system to protect those that need it. His smile remains for a long time as he continues to watch the movie silently beside her. As it goes on, that message is seen in the protagonist's actions. He grows more fond of the movie.

"I guess it doesn't matter what those few people do," he allows his thoughts to shape into words. "They won't win. Dean, Cas, Sam, and even this character in the movie won't let that happen."

She'll assure him that the good guys win if it gets too scary. She won't tell him that there are several more Resident Evil movies so...no one wins for long.

Good, but she is flattered. Lucy will also be happy that the movie grows on him. She likes the message of the movie and also the kick-ass heroine. The fight scenes are pretty awesome as well. It always makes her feel better and empowered in some way.

Lucy thinks about his words and then nods. "Yeah. Besides, we can't let those few change how we view the world. It's like letting them win."

Yes, all he wants to believe is that the good guys win.

They should watch the rest of them soon. The more he watches now, it goes without saying that he would be invested in the others if she told him. A strong female lead never hurt anybody. In fact, he could grow from watching how badass women can be as all his role models prior to Itinere were Winchesters.

Lucy's advice clears his doubt about the world inside the movie. "Well, no. We never let them win."

He goes back to watching the movie for a bit before turning back to Lucy.

"Would you still want to bake in this universe?" He motions to the action scene currently playing out. "Looking for supplies is something I could do." Maybe she can tell he's gotten into the make belief aspect.

It's a nice thing to believe in. It's one that Lucy tries to believe in every day. She's an optimist most of the time, but she does often avoid the evening news because it's depressing and hard on her optimism.

They can make it a date. Most of Lucy's role models prior to meeting the Winchesters were much more quiet kind of strong woman or fictional. She likes knowing heroes are real though. It helps keep her optimism high.

She can't help but laugh a little at Jack's question before she nods. "Yeah. Even heroes have to eat and someone has to cook for them. I like feeding people. It's my way of showing I care and contributing to good's triumph over evil, I guess."

Jack isn't a fan of the evening news either. It's terrible the things people do out there. He's much more a fan of the funnies from the newspaper in the morning. Lucy at breakfast every day would only add value to his routine (and hopefully hers.)

Jack can try to come up with the when and where. It's the least he can do. Besides, quality time with someone of her character (the strong, one day at a time person) means a lot to him.

Lucy's laughter is infectious and he can't help but laugh with a smile. "I'll cook with you. I want to do what's best for the most people too." Keeping people fed sounds like it does the most good, arguably. Jack could fight but he's not a fan of it period. But he will if the Winchesters need him that isn't a question. Lucy really cares about people and he's in awe of that.

Jack and Cas are definitely Lucy's favorite parts of the morning with bourbon in her coffee as a close third. Like Jack, she prefers to put more positivity in her life than negative.

Next time she does a baking and spa night, she'll let Jack know. He can wear a face mask, get pedicures, and make cupcakes with her while listening to too much pop music.

"I will be happy to have you as my sous chef," she tells him then bumps his shoulder with hers. "I think most people would argue that you're doing the most good by being all the best parts of God from the bible." You know, kind benevolent, generous, and loving.

Cas would agree that Lucy is a good influence on Jack.

All she would need to do is call and invite him to do one thing to get a yes. It could be an extended family with Cas date if Jack didn't think it was meant to be a proper date between the adults.

"I need to read the rest of the Bible, " he blurts out. But he understands what she I'd getting at. "I don't interfere anymore than what needs to be fixed now."
