Merry Christmas you filthy animal
Thanksgiving had been awesome. Dean had cooked every conceivable Thanksgiving dish and they'd all eaten until they thought they were going to burst. He'd spent the next day in a food coma but had quickly gotten up to speed on getting the bunker ready for Christmas. There had been a shit ton of decorations in storage, but he'd replaced a few lights and added a singing Santa or two.
Ruby had embroidered stockings with everyone's name. She hated embroidery, but she was damn good at it. Jo had contributed a recipe for Christmas punch and one for eggnog. She insisted that they needed to have it regularly so they could tweak the recipe. That way it would be perfect for Christmas Eve. Dean was pretty sure Jo was just enjoying her first real Christmas since God knows when. Dean wasn't complaining. Lucy hadn't stopped baking since the tree had gone up, and didn't show any signs of slowing down.
Ruby was also systematically removing, altering, or replacing everything that said Christmas. The bunker was turning into a politically (or demonically) correct wonderland: Happy Holidays!

Re: RUBY
Ruby wouldn't have dreamed of looking in the drawer. Half the magic of a gift is having it given. She can't help but smile softly when Sam hands his gift to her first. She arches an eyebrow at him, a teasing smile sneaking across her lips. "I don't know whether to be disappointed or pleased it can be opened in front of people, Puppy," she teases him as she unties the bow and lifts the lid on the box. Her mischief turns to genuine surprise and gratitude when she sees the heart-shaped necklace inside. She can feel its magic even if she's unsure what it does. She swallows past emotion as she lifts the chain to slip it over her head. "Actual hearts aren't shaped..." she trails off because they both know what a heart looks like. "I love it. What does it do?" she asks as her fingers go up to touch the heart.
Most of Ruby's gifts for everyone are handmade blankets, but she'd found Sam's gift a few months ago while she was tracking down a demon that had been making a mess of this new world they were all trying to live in. It had been a little bit of an accident. She'd been in a used bookstore looking for a few books to occupy her free time when she'd found a copy of Pablo Neruda's love poems in the original Spanish from 1971, the year he'd won the noble prize for literature. She'd marked the page with her favorite poem with a fancy brass page marker. She'd tucked the rest of the markers inside the book then wrapped it up in a piece of red velvet with a hand-tied elaborate bow. She hands it over to Sam. "Happy holidays."
Re: RUBY
He had given her books often enough that he couldn't consider them anything extraordinary. The pendant had stuck out more since it wasn't that long ago that agreed to take the next step with him. He can't help but smile more widely when handing her the box and watching her light up. "You tell me," he winks at her and watches her open the lid. His own expression grows softer as he watches her react. It might not mean the same to both of them but the heart symbolizes to him how much she means to him and reminds him that her heart is beating again. The small amount of magic inside was a bonus. He holds back a chuckle. "Wouldn't want something that looked like a fist?" The question isn't one he expects her to answer. Using his hands, he directs her to the inside the pendant. "The feather right there signifies health. It has a small dose of magic to heal minor ailments." He is aware that she is a capable demon but it will never stop him from wishing for her safety.
Clearly, Ruby knows Sam well. He used to write his own poetry in high school and college and a collection of his works remains in his memory box at the foot of their bed. He looks her deep in eyes twice. The first time when she hands the gift out to him and again after carefully unwrapping the velvet from the book. Half of him doesn't doubt her gift giving capabilities, the other half is ecstatic and surprised she found the Spanish copy of Pablo's noble prize winning literature. He looks down again only to flip open the page she book marked and read the words with a open heart. "This is... Where did you find this?" He runs his fingers over the age of the paper, following the text. "I love it. Thank you."
Re: RUBY
Ruby watches him open the gift with equal parts excitement for his reaction and nervousness. She raises both shoulders in a shrug at his question. "An estate sale outside of El Paso when I was there on a hunt." He probably remembers she was gone for several days hunting a La Llorona. "A little old Mexican grandma had died. She had a bunch of old books that her family was practically giving away. I snatched up several Spanish romance novels and that."
Re: RUBY
Sam glances at Dean gagging briefly before returning his attention to Ruby. (Jo is a star.) It wasn't worth ruining the moment to address it. "It looks good on you." The words might seem familiar because he tells her every chance he gets. It's more than just his heart that belongs to her but the symbolism isn't lost on either of them. That is enough. He kisses her lips back, short but long enough to savor for a moment, ignoring what could either be described as more gagging or groaning in the background.
Her gift is perfect. He pages through some of the text to feel the age of the pages at his fingers before closing the novel against his chest. His eyes flash with recognition of the hunt she spoke of. They were in contact as usual and he helped her with some of the lore in hunting the La Llorona. Sad that more than a Mexican grandma died in the week. Ruby saving the book in his hands made him smile more though. "That's my girl."
After a second, "I was wondering why you picked up the novels in Spanish and a suitcase." Normally, Ruby didn't bring things back, let alone travel with much. She traveled lighter than any Winchester ever had at any point of time.
Re: RUBY
Those words are familiar to Ruby and they never fail to make her smile. If Ruby has her way, every part of Sam will belong to her, but she's possessive like that. Sam pulls away just as Ruby starts to grab his shirt and pull him in for a deeper kiss. There's a good deal of grumbling and groaning in the background. Jo can only do so much.
Ruby can't even pretend not to melt when Sam calls her 'my girl'. She smirks at him. "Oh, I bring rare books across the country for tall men all the time," she flirts.
As a demon, she needs less than most humans, even Winchesters. She shrugs a little. "I've got a place to keep stuff now." Before she had to stash it in a crypt because it was the only thing that wouldn't be ransacked and bulldozed over time.
Re: RUBY
He would never lie about something that made her smile. A fair chunk of him does belong to her, no buts. He was pulling away but her hand grabs his shirt and he leans in again to meet her half way. The noise in the background might as well not exist. He can tell how pleased Ruby is with herself when he can regain some of his posture.
He can recall the first time he let 'my girl' slip into conversation; Ruby had the same smirk then. Somewhere along the line, it had only seemed proper for her nicknames for him (ie puppy, Samuel). "I'm a big fan of this rule," he eyes her up and down.
Sam would still consider her unique needs whilst they traveled out of love. He places a hand on her shoulder. "Always. If you feel the urge to hunt, let me know." He had only been to the crypt with her once before but it wasn't a place to call home.
Re: RUBY
She likes it as far as affectionate terms go. The flirting is met with the same groans and a grumbled 'get a room'. Don't worry, Dean. They will eventually.
She smiles a little at that. "We could make a road trip of it." Just the two of them. It'll give Jo and Dean some alone time as well, which is probably appreciated.
Re: RUBY
They've been together for so long that the noise in the background nor the PDA matters anymore. Good call on her part to not push it.
Their room isn't all that far either. Looking at the usual signals from Ruby, Sam can tell that things can wait till a little later that day.
Her eyes manage to capture his attention for longer. "When?" They are already in agreement on a road trip. Leaving Jo and Dean to themselves in another perk. Sam can only hope his brother nurtures the relationship with Jo.
Re: RUBY
She hardly even notices it these days.
No, it isn't. She'll pull him into it once everyone else is occupied.
She presses her lips together and considers it. "We could go in a few days, spend the new year on the road." Just the two of them. It seems as good an idea as any.
Re: RUBY
Sam makes it no secret that they're an item even when they fake as FBI agents.
Chances are they will be able to slip away once everyone is preparing the main festivities (meal) or off celebrating on their own.
The implied just the two of them sound like music to his ears. "Would you like to pick this time?" He's aware that Ruby couldn't care less about the location, which is why he's hung a board of all the places they've been. He's suggesting she point blindly on the map.
Re: RUBY
Maybe both.
"I'll throw a dart this time," she suggests, because no, she doesn't care about the location at all.
Re: RUBY
In some ways, it's his oldest way of flirting with her. The flowers and the traditional ways he tried to date her in the beginning never really clicked with them (but that's okay.)
Both are an alluring option.
He agrees that she should and takes the dart from the board and places it into her hand (an excuse to run his fingers against hers.)
Re: RUBY
She gives him one of those 'cat ate the canary' grins and turns to him. "You really should put your hands over my eyes if it's going to be a true blind throw," she tells him. Once his hands are over her eyes and he's standing behind her, she wiggles her ass a little more then steps back to press against him and throws the dart at the map.
Re: RUBY
He likes her style of thinking and complies to her request without saying anything more. His fingers cover each of her eyelids gingerly. He's close to her without even thinking about it, but when her ass wiggles, his hips press a little more closer to the back of her. The dart hits, "It's Mexico." Not inside the United States, but still driveable.
Re: RUBY
Re: RUBY
His arms form a circle so she can turn to face him before they rest along her hips. He breathes deeply at how her hands run over him. The vacation is part of it, but nothing is more of a turn on then any time alone with his girl. "Good thing we have pre-packed b-'' The word drops from his lips when hers comes in contact with his. Greedily, his hands slide up her back, not caring if they catch on a little fabric or slide under it. That little bit of extra closeness is all he desires.
When their lips do part at some point between satisfied and needing air, "First thing. I'll make sure everything is ready." For starters, letting Dean know.
