Merry Christmas you filthy animal
Thanksgiving had been awesome. Dean had cooked every conceivable Thanksgiving dish and they'd all eaten until they thought they were going to burst. He'd spent the next day in a food coma but had quickly gotten up to speed on getting the bunker ready for Christmas. There had been a shit ton of decorations in storage, but he'd replaced a few lights and added a singing Santa or two.
Ruby had embroidered stockings with everyone's name. She hated embroidery, but she was damn good at it. Jo had contributed a recipe for Christmas punch and one for eggnog. She insisted that they needed to have it regularly so they could tweak the recipe. That way it would be perfect for Christmas Eve. Dean was pretty sure Jo was just enjoying her first real Christmas since God knows when. Dean wasn't complaining. Lucy hadn't stopped baking since the tree had gone up, and didn't show any signs of slowing down.
Ruby was also systematically removing, altering, or replacing everything that said Christmas. The bunker was turning into a politically (or demonically) correct wonderland: Happy Holidays!

Re: ALLISON
She's very stubborn and determined. At his question, she lays aside the bow. "Lydia is my best friend. She's a brilliant scientist and a banshee. There's Stiles who works with the FBI and is human. Scott is my ex-boyfriend. He's an alpha werewolf and has his own pack in Beacon Hills. He's a good alpha and a good werewolf. He also runs an animal rescue and shelter. Derek is part of Scott's pack. There's also Isaac, a werewolf who travels, hunts, and tries to help new wolves adjust. Maya is a coyote. She lived in the wild for a while and couldn't change back for a while after we found her."
Re: ALLISON
Her own father could have made less as many mistakes. He learns something new from her answer had never hunted with a bow before. "Would you like help with setting up one in the forest behind the bunker?" He's offering his help because Allison seems determined to stay sharp. Cas isn't a hundred percent but he is certain Jack would have warned her that sometimes things around them (this or any other) aren't as safe as it appears. He's never had to address his own sense of self before, but she shouldn't have to worry as she is doing him a favor. These questions are cathartic. "I did. He has since passed on. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Jimmy Novak."
The determination in her eye reminds him a lot of Claire. She speaks well of her friends and he smiles with interest. Each and every one of them sound extraordinary. Many of them are supernatural creatures which leaves a positive impression on him. "I've heard you visited them not too long ago," he recalls. "It's great that they're doing well."
Re: ALLISON
She is surprised by his request, but responds after a moment. "Yeah. I'd be happy to help. I know a bow might not be useful on every hunt, but I'm a good aim. That translates to a gun as well. I couple probably use the practice for both the bow and a gun." Jack hasn't warned her per se but she wants to be a hunter; she wants to help and save people. Of course, she hasn't been back long enough to really get into a hunting groove yet. She does plan on talking to Sam about getting on his hunting network. "Oh. I'm sorry," she says sincerely because Cas sounds like he cares about Jimmy. "He--how did it happen? Is that okay to ask?"
She smiles and nods. "Yes. I stayed with Lydia. We took a road trip and visited with everyone. She missed me. I missed her too, just not while I was in Heaven, which is weird."
Re: ALLISON
He thought she would like that suggestion, but he took her surprise in stride. "Dean could help you with setting up for a practice range if you ask." Castiel is confident that Dean is one of the most skilled persons alive when it comes to that. He could also see how an outdoor range might benefit all of the bunker's residents. No one expects her to throw herself back into the fray right away anyhow. Least of all Sam, if she were to talk to him about getting on the network. Chances are he would tell her he will keep her in mind while holding off for a bit. Or she would get teamed up or given something easy. Jimmy was Claire's father. There's lots to stay about how he's grown to care about Claire so never a day goes by where he reflects on how his actions led to Jimmy never returning home. "My brother, Raphael smited me, and Jimmy was a casualty. Unfortunately, Heaven was in discord for a long time before Jack was born." It's hard to talk about because so few angels still stand today. He hopes that simplifies it for her.
He nods follows with a smile watching hers grow. He can't help but read the little bit she doesn't share about the trip from her mind. It left her feeling warm, as if she was home again. He was happy she was adjusting so well. "I'm glad you had a good time. Heaven has a way of making you feel at ease, like home is around the corner." Or so it has been described to him by Kelly. It's never fully like home until people start appearing though... Something he purposely leaves out.
Re: ALLISON
In a very short timeframe, her friends did create a feeling of home for her, a feeling of being warm and loved. She nods a little. "Yeah. So do my friends, but in a different way, if that makes any sense." Well, she had had her mother there and she'd met Jack there so that had helped.
Re: ALLISON
Honestly, as much as Garth isn't someone Sam would work with, there are good reasons to put Allison in touch with him. First, Garth is part of an existing werewolf community. Secondly, he was a former hunter. He was something of a rare fit to the world Allison knew before. Dean does sort of fall as the fun uncle type. But Jack still sees him as one of three parents. He never would have learned to drive if not for Dean. Sam had helped him understand his powers better and that the world runs on social norms. Castiel provides him guidance above all us when it comes to Heaven. Unfortunately, there's some truth to parents never returning home without angelic interference. Jack would be a safer bet for questions as he has less tragic history in his life. "It's no fault of yours. You've helped me realize there are some matters I need to resolve. thank you."
There seems to be a lot of common ground between them. Cas feels this way about the Winchesters. "It's all right to feel as if you have two homes... It's what you do with the time you have while you are here." He is trying to make her feel better by having to wait to return to Heaven again.
Re: ALLISON
That makes Allison smile because she understands that. "I bet you feel that way sometimes. I think Jack does too. We've talked a little bit about it. Besides, I know my mom is okay until I get back. She'd want me to have a happy life and to grow old before I die."
